A Visitor’s Guide to Enjoying Events at St. Augustine Amphitheater
Nestled in the heart of Anastasia State Park, the St. Augustine Amphitheater, affectionately known as "the Amp," is not just a venue; it's a vibrant hub for cultural and musical events that attract visitors from all corners. With its rich history dating back to 1965, the Amp has evolved from a modest community space into a premier outdoor venue, hosting a diverse array of performances from world-renowned artists to local talent. In 2022, the Amp was the #1 top-selling amphitheater venue in the U.S. beating the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, and it continues to be one of the top-selling amphitheater venues in the world today. This guide aims to provide you with practical tips, tricks, and techniques to enhance your experience at this iconic outdoor venue.
Before the Event
Ticket Purchase & Planning: Secure your tickets in advance through the official website or authorized ticket vendors. Considering the venue's capacity of approximately 4,700 spectators, popular events sell out quickly. Check the event calendar on the Amp's official website for upcoming performances and ticket availability. If you plan to attend multiple events at the Amp throughout the year, consider an AmpChoice membership. AmpChoice benefits include: best seats in the house, on-site premium parking, access to the AmpChoice Pavilion with private bar and bathrooms, dedicated entrance (no long wait lines), and access to member-only events.
Accommodations & Transportation: If you're visiting from out of town, book your accommodations early. St. Augustine offers a range of options from cozy bed and breakfasts to luxurious hotels. There are also a lot of vacation rentals located close to the Amp; many are within walking distance or just a short bike ride away. Most can be found on Airbnb or Vrbo. For transportation, there is a parking lot at the Amp but it fills up quickly. Usually there is complimentary event parking at R.B Hunt Elementary School with a shuttle to and from the Amp for popular events. Many businesses located by the Amp and even residents that live across the street offer parking for Amp events in exchange for a cash fee, typically $20 - $30 per vehicle. Pedicabs are often running during Amp events along with other shuttle services like Old Town Connect, which you can also schedule in advance. Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lift can also be a convenient choice to avoid parking hassles.
